8. La Michoacana
La Michoacana is a great spot to start our little list on the best Mexican snack stops. This shop focuses mainly on ice cream, popsicles, and sweet snacks, but it also has the other more savory snacks, like esquites (corn prepared with mayo, cheese, chile, and butter). Best thing about this shop? There are many locations throughout LA county
7. Plaza Mexico
Plaza Mexico is a center full of Mexican culture. Often on weekends, you hear Mexican music playing in the background, and you can also see some Aztec dancing! There are food shops throughout the plaza that you can visit, including bakeries, taco shops, and ice cream shops. Want more than just a snack? There are plenty of restaurants, and quicker options on the second floor!

6. Olvera Street
Olvera street is a historical landmark in Los Angeles. It’s a beautiful location and great spot for pictures. Here, they have some delicious snacks in the little park nearby. And Mr. churro is a must. It’s a cute spot that also sells Mexican candies. Mexican restaurants are a prominent feature there.

5. Las Palmas
Just like La Michoacana, Las Palmas has multiple locations. It is a shop that sells very delicious antojitos. Hopwever, this place also sells food, not just snacks. Their snacks range from ice cream, to chips, to raspados (shaved ice), to bionicos (fresh fuit with a sweet cream) to nachos and more. If you like mango and chamoy, definitely try the chamango!
4. Antojitos
This little spot in Gardena is quite popular among locals. The main building is where you go to get snacks. Like many places on this list, it sells ice cream and paletas. They also sell other delicious treats like nachos and other savory snacks. What I think the best part of this location is the food truck parked outside. Although it’s not a “snack”, they sell really great tacos and other Mexican foods. Worth a try!
3. Swamp Meet
Although the swamp meet is not the first place that comes to mind for Mexican snacks, it defintely deserves a spot on the list. The swamp meet I go to takes place on Sundays at Harbor City Community college from 8am to 3pm. There are many food trucks and stands that sell all kind of Mexican candies and both sweet and savory snacks. If you haven't thought of visiting the swamp meet for snacks, you should!
2. LA fashion District
I’m not going to lie. The main reason why I love the fashion district in downtown Los Angeles isn’t the affordable clothing, but rather the food on practically every corner of every street. Trust me. You will not regret the expensive parking. One of my favorites are the hotdogs. Although not necessarily Mexican, it is a staple of Mexican Los Angeles culture. If you aren’t afraid, get the hotdog with the grilled onions and vegetables on top. And don’t forget to wash it down with some amazing agua fresca. You’ll need it after all the walking and shopping you do.
1. El Mercadito
And last but definitely not least, number one on my list has to be el mercadito. This East LA landmark is a definite go to for me. This place has it all. Mariachis, food, snacks, and more. Not in the mood for food (which I think is impossible), just walk on inside and see all the little shops. The inside stores are just like those in the mercados, or the shopping centers down in Mexico. Ever heard of hot Cheetos with nacho cheese? You will! And definitely try the churros. ASK FOR FRESH ONES!! And of course don’t forget your papitas (potato chips) and raspados. Yum! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. See you there!!
